See the big stone he played as a young boy, the clear streams, the grazing pastures, the animal tracks, the culture, the people and their stories, all never to be found anywhere else in the world except Qunu - an unique offering an unique experience.

Walk every step of the long walk with Nelson Mandela Museum.

General Info

AFRICA-O-AFRICA TOURS will take you to Port St Johns, a picturesque coastal town where the mighty Umzimvubu River runs either side of the majestic cliffs before spilling into the Indian Ocean. It is a place of spirit where the visitor can experience nature’s deepest, dearest treasure. Port St Johns, the centrepiece of the Wild Coast, derives its name form a Portuguese vessel, the San Joa, which was wrecked off the Transkei Coast in 1552.

Be renewed through space, sun, sea, abundant vegetation of a thousand shades of green, and broad expanses of sandy shores broken by masses of sheer rock face.

The forest and Nature Reserves remain intact with their precious bio-diversity of fauna and flora and birdcalls. They are sanctuaries for inner healing for weary souls.

Idyllic accommodation will be provided on the banks of the Umzimkulu River in timber cabins.

The next destination takes us to upmarket accommodation on the banks of the unspoilt Mngazi River.

So many tribal fights were waged along the banks of the Mngazi River “that it was to flow with blood”, giving meaning to the word Mngazi.

Our own hut on the Eastern Cape coast, where you can relax and just absorb the fresh air and spectacular view.

Hole in the Wall.

This lesser known Mgawa-waterfall cloe to Lusikisiki is exceptionally beautifull, and shouold not be missed.

Pondoland Tour.

A trip further south takes us to the rural area of Mngazana. In the rainy season this route requires a 4X4 vehicle.

The swamp forest is one of the largest in Africa and is one of few where three types of mangrove trees occur - namely black, white and red mangrove.

A local community guide will provide a cultural tour to a typical Amapondo village where Pondo people continue to peapetuate traditional ways. A visit to the Blow Hole, Poenskop, Shilaka Nature Reserve, the museum and the old lighthouse is also a worthwhile experience. Boat trips on the rivers are available.

Crayfish along the coast are in abundance. By slowly cooking it over a coal fire, a sumptuous snack is created.

This journey will also lead us to Esikaleni and Coffee Bay. Esikaleni (the place of the water people) otherwise known as Hole in the Wall. Xhosa legend holds that this is the gateway to the world of their ancestors. Coffee Bay is so named because a cargo of coffee was apparently washed ashore after a shipwreck in the vicinity. It is possible that the coffee came from the Hercules, which came ashore near the mouth of the Umtata River.
