Why be stuck in the same hotel for days? Spend time out in the countryside with the locals!!!

An early morning visit to a game reserve for a close encounter of the wild kind!!

Thereafter experience living with a family in the township for two nights. Interact with the community and visit a sangoma communing with ancestral spirits. Enjoy cultural activities and music such as township jive, kwaito/gospel music and sarafina / Mapansula dancers.

A visit to the shabeen [tavern] in the evening completes the tour. We visit a few crafts people before returning to Durban.

SHAKALAND BY DAY
A visit to the Kingdom of KwaZulu Natal is not complete without a visit to Shakaland. We depart at 08h00 and travel along the North Coast passing sugar plantations. We pass the John Ross Bridge, Ultimatum Tree, and then on to Shakaland. This is one of Africa's greatest experiences. Watch pottery and beer making, Zulu dancing, customs, traditions and culture. After a traditional lunch we return to Durban at 16h00.

SHAKALAND BY NIGHT

Depart Durban/Umhlanga at 08h00 add proceed to Dumazulu. This African Village is situated at the heart of the Zululand Bushveld close to the world famous Hluhluwe Game Park. Learn about Zulu, culture, traditions, and watch tribal dancing.
